Visit the Winchester Mystery House

Monday, November 7, 2016
I've heard a lot of things about the Winchester Mystery House. Aside from it was featured on Travel Channel and Ghost adventures. I was excited to finally make my way to San Jose, California.

The architecture of this house is just stunning and very creative especially for the time it was built in. It has a good story wrapped up in all sorts of mystery and supernatural that had happen around the turn of the 20th century. It really makes the whole experience unique.

Brief history:

In early life William and Sarah Winchester started their family in 1862, the couple’s life together was happy. Years had past their infant daughter, Annie, died of mysterious childhood disease. And then 15 years later added to Mrs. Winchester’s distress, her husband’s died  from tuberculosis.

It is said, Sarah Winchester ask help from a spiritualist. The medium told her that the Winchester family had been hit by a terrible curse and was haunted by the ghosts of all those killed by the Winchester rifle. The spirits were seeking revenge, and the only way to soothe them was to build a house for them.  The ghost requested that never stop building the house or else - she will die!

The grounds are really well kept and it's fun to go through the gardens and around the house for free.

Mrs. Winchester headed west to build a home for herself and her ghosts. She found a perfect spot for her new home in the Santa Clara Valley.  A six-room unfinished  farm house three miles west of San Jose.  A job that would occupy her until her death in later years.

The Winchester Mystery House is known as “the house built by the spirits.

One of the entrance of the house.

This house has 13 palm trees line the driveway,  13 bathrooms, most of the windows have 13 panes, a sink drain has 13 holes and so on.  Looks like  Mrs. Winchester is very superstitious.

I'm a big fan of paranormal investigation type of show. And standing in front of the most haunted mansion in America is over the top. Not a fan of doing investigation myself though - Pretty spooky!

They also offer a night tour if you are more into adventure. As for me I am happy being outside ha ha!
